2019 Annual Forum

Here are a few of our favorite highlights.

"Cigna is proud to be a Gold sponsor of the forum and to fund the Charlene and Shane Ventanilla scholarship memorial fund. We know there is no health without maternal mental health." – Dr. Jeff Klein, Cigna Market Medical Director

"Trauma is in the eye of the beholder." – Cheryl Beck, keynote, leading nurse researcher, birth trauma

"Instead of focusing on caring for my 4 pound premature baby, I was combing through hospital bills. We went to an in-network doctor and hospital and in total we had to take a cash advance to pay for the $10,000 in remaining bills... My postpartum depression lasted over a year. I was never asked how I was doing, not by my doctor, pediatrician or the hospital." – Joanna Joshua, mother of three

"She came into our case management service for lactation support and scored extremely high on the EPDS screening tool and was ready to walk in front of traffic. We were able to connect her in 48 hours to her OB for treatment plan development." – Founder of Mahmee in the Women's Tech/Start up breakout session

"I'm thankful that I am this strong willed person and that I fought my way to a recovery state of mind but everyone is not me." – Kay Mathews, mother of Troya, her stillborn baby girl
