Our Role in Improving Health Equity

We are working to improve Health Equity for Black and Brown Mothers.

We believe all expecting and postpartum mothers deserve to feel safe and supported in the health and mental health care systems. We are working to improve safety and support by:

  1. Addressing access to providers like doulas, midwives, and certified peer specialists;

  2. Addressing access to Black and Brown maternal and mental health health care providers,

  3. Promoting health and mental health care environments that do not explicitly or implicitly treat mothers differently based on skin color.

We are addressing and promoting change through discussions at our annual Maternal Mental Health FORUM and Policy Center webinars, lifting up Black and Brown-led sister nonprofits, and through the state and federal legislative and regulatory policy we introduce and support.
