We are grateful to our Ambassadors. Here is another in a series intended to showcase our advocates and team members and their story in the arena of maternal mental health care.
BETHLEHEM, GA – I am a maternal mental health survivor and advocate! I spent years in the darkness of MMH disorders, but I am proud to say I have made my way into the light and am committed to helping other moms join me there. I now work with moms as a childbirth educator, birth doula, and peer support group leader.
Q: Who or what are you inspired by right now – and why?
A: The Climb Out of the Darkness events hosted worldwide by Postpartum Support International is so inspiring. This is my 3rd year leading a fundraiser walk that happens yearly in June, near the summer solstice (longest day of the year), to shed the most light on perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. I love all mental health awareness events. I am looking forward to my second screening and discussion event of the documentary When the Bough Breaks.
Q: What compelled you to work with 2020 Mom?
A: I have a deep passion for connecting with programs surrounding maternal health. My hope is that through awareness and advocacy, no one has to struggle in shame and silence like I did!
Q: What do you love about 2020 Mom?
A: 2020 Mom has tremendous free resources, materials, and tools that I have and will continue to utilize! I really love the posters, flyers and awareness cards that you can print or order!
